The mountain extends further east from the Lumding Himal toward the massive Rolwaling Himal. The Kwangde Ri lies in the Khumbu Range of the Everest Region. It’s a challenging climbing peak with an average height of 6011 m. The northern approach to the peak is more challenging, although even the southern face is also a demanding one. The climbers are rewarded with the exciting views that extend across the Khumbu, from Ama Dablam and Makalu in the East, to Everest and Cho Oyu and the Rolwaling peaks, to the northwest. It forms an impressive multi-summited ridge at the eastern end of the Lumding Himal, which in turn is part of Rolwaling Himal. The mountain stands above the Bhote Koshi River to the south-west of Namche Bazar. The northern part of the mountain forms an impressive barrier having several steep ridges to the north.
It's glaciated southern flank is more aloof. It is hidden at the northern end of the Lumding Drangka, a high and remote valley bounded to the west by the tumbling glaciers of Karyolung (6,511m/21,361ft), Khartang (6,853m/22,484ft) and Numbur (6,959m/22,831ft). The Lumdring valley is rarely visited by trekkers or expeditions. At the northern end of the valley the stream cascades down a natural rocky barrier above which is a moraine-bound lake, the Tsho Og, at the snout of the Limding Glacier. North of the Tsho Og, itself hidden in a huge rocky cwm, is the massive Lumding Tsho Teng (5,151m/16,899ft).
All of the routes climbed to date on the Kwangde Peaks are difficult, none have proved suitable for commercial trekking peak expeditions. The routes on the North Face are particularly difficult and reflect recent developments in lightweight Himalayan climbing, with an emphasis on technical difficulty and a high degree of commitment. They have invariably been made by two climbers without support camps or fixed ropes, although in at least one case a subsequent ascent has seen a return to traditional siege style tactics with masses of fixed rope and camps. Even the routes on the South Face are difficult, although the climbing is more traditional in character.
The first ascent of Kwangde Lho was made by a Nepalese expedition in 1975 which was led by Kumar Khagdar and Bikram Shah. The actual summit was reached on 17 October by Lhakpa Tenzing. Sonam Gyalzen, Shambhu Tamang and Sonam Hisi via the South Ridge.

Detailed Itinerary of Kwangde Peak Climbing
You will be welcomed by our representative at Kathmandu International Airport. You will then be taken to the hotel where you can either relax in the afternoon or hang around. Staying in hotel for overnight.
Go sightseeing in Kathmandu. Visit Soyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Durbar square and many other sites. Later in the day, you will be briefed about the trek and then preparations will be made.
We will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla while witnessing a breathtaking of enormous Himalayan range bordering China and Nepal. We will land after 40 minutes. The trek starts with a leisurely walk down to the Dudh Koshi River, where we reach the major route to Namche Bazaar. After passing through the small community of Ghat (2550 m.), we reach Phakding. Overnight stay at guest house.

After summiting Kwangde peak , we return to base camp.
Our way down progresses toward Phakding where you could see dramatic vista of Sherpa villages, snow-capped peaks, lush hillsides and deep jungles. After we reach Namche, we trek down, come across several suspension bridges and reach at Monjo. Then , we gain trek back to Phakding all along the Dudhkoshi River.
From Phakding, we continue moving until we reach beside the Dudh Koshi and from here we trek to Lukla. It takes around 6 hours of trekking. Overnight stay in lodge.
Early in the morning, we take the scenic flight for returning to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu, we are transferred back to our hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu at the hotel.
You can go around Kathmandu visiting many sites or shopping in Thamel.
You are dropped off at the airport for your departure from Nepal.

You should be comfortable walking for several hours a day on uneven ground, with some steep climbs. Regular cardio and hill walking in the weeks before you travel makes a big difference. Ask us if you are unsure about a route.
Most mountain routes need permits and park or area entry fees. We arrange the ones your route needs; the quote lists what is covered.
Walk slowly, drink plenty of water and sleep lower than the highest point you reached that day. The itinerary includes acclimatisation time where the route needs it. Tell your guide straight away about headache, nausea or dizziness. If symptoms get worse, the safe response is to descend.

It was an excellent and memorable trip arranged by creative adventure. We were 15 family members planned for pilgrimage trip but later combined adventures too for the sake of our kids. From the arrival and till departure, Ramesh Ji ‘s support was excellent. He was able to reach even at night for some emergencies. Excellent vehicles were provided and especially kind and experienced drivers were arranged. Because of the change in climatic conditions , our flight got cancelled and we were supposed to do road travel. We afraid a lot but the drivers were really experienced and helped us a lot in all aspects. Food arranged in hotels were really good. ( Only concern was they could have separated veg n non veg in different places n not on the same counters). Especially chef in landmark Kathmandu was so kind n prepared food specially for us. Cultural village in Janakpur also provided homely n decent food. We had a great n enjoyable trip all over. Thanks Ramesh Ji for arranging everything.
