Mardi Himal Trek

The Annapurna region's Mardi Himal walk is an exciting and picturesque four-day trip that offers stunning vistas of the Himalayan mountain range. In comparison to the well-known Everest Base Camp walk or the Annapurna Circuit trek, this is a lesser-known route.

The Mardi Himal Trek is an excellent alternative for those of us searching for a more "low-key" trekking adventure in Nepal's Annapurna area. It is the lowest and arguably the least well-known of Nepal's trekking peaks.

The lonely paths are beautiful, with lush woods, intriguing villages, valleys, terraced fields, glistening rivers, and spectacular vistas of the Annapurna, Machhapuchre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli mountains. Another advantage of this hiking route is that it forms a little circuit up to the Mardi Himal base camp, allowing us to avoid retracing our steps over the same terrain.

Finally, the Mardi Himal trek is a short trek in Nepal's Annapurna region where we stay in teahouses (lodges), sample local cuisine, appreciate the beautiful hill and mountain scenery, and marvel at panoramic views of massive Himalayan mountains such as Annapurna, Machhapuchre, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal.

Program ( 9 Days )

When you arrive in Kathmandu, our representative will meet you at the airport and drive you to your accommodation. In the afternoon, you can take a break or explore some local attractions. Creative Adventure Nepal will throw a welcome supper in the evening. We will serve real Nepalese cuisine for supper, which will introduce you to the country's gastronomic culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Included meals: Dinner

We'll take the road to Pokhara. After arriving, we will check into our hotel, rest for a little, and then have a brief walk along the lakeside. Here, we can enjoy views of the mountains and the magnificent Phewa Lake. Overnight at Pokhara. Included meals: Breakfast| Dinner

After breakfast, we travel for an hour to Kande, where we begin our climb at a height of 1770 meters. A 1.5-hour trek up leads to the lovely hamlet of Australian Camp at an elevation of 2100m. The route to Australain camp from Kande is upward, and it is a lovely easy walk up to Pothana from there, and it is a gentle hike up to Deurali (2200m) for approximately 2 hours, where you stay in a tea house lodge for the first night. It's a simple start for the first day. Included meals: Breakfast|Lunch| Dinner

From Deurali, follow an off-the-beaten-path trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp on the right side and continue along a calm track through a lush forest of oak, maple, hemlock, and rhododendron. After about 4 hours of jungle walking, we will arrive at Forest Camp, where we will have lunch before continuing on to Low Camp through the forest. As we rise, the flora begins to alter with more rhododendron and the trees are covered with moss, lichen, and tree ferns. You may have a long and difficult day. It is suitable for regular fit trekkers. However, if you are a beginner or moderate trekker, you may divide the day and do the trek in 7 hours, while our pre-set itinerary is 6 days. Overnight in Low Camp. Included meals: Breakfast| Lunch| Dinner

The 1.5 hour trek through rhododendron woodland brings us to Middle Camp, then to Badal Danda, which gives amazing views of the Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre, and the Mardi Himal itself. The route emerges above tree level an hour or two above Low Camp, with a fine view of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli to the west. The route continues along the Mardi Himal ridge, mostly on grass with a few rhododendron plants thrown in for good measure. The vista from High Camp to Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre is spectacular (Fishtail). Included meals: Breakfast| Lunch| Dinner

The idea for today is to get up early for a dawn glimpse of the mountains, then climb along the ridge towards Mardi Himal Base Camp. There is a well-established track through the grass with a few higher portions but nothing too difficult. In the summer, sheep and goats from lower settlements are brought up to graze in this region, so you will pass a lot of herder's cottages along the journey. After three hours, you should arrive at Base Camp at 4500m. From here, you can see the whole Annapurna Sanctuary, including the south face of Annapurna and all of the peaks in the Sanctuary, as well as Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). We return to High Camp for lunch before returning to Low Camp. Included meals: Breakfast| Lunch| Dinner

On the way back, we take an alternative path to complete a circuit. From Low Camp, there is a track that descends down to Siding village rather than back down Mardi Himal to Kokar. Siding is a traditional Nepalese village that is still far apart from the busier contemporary tourist treks, and it is probable that you will stay at a homestay in Siding owned by the individual who manages one of the lodges at Low Camp. It is a fantastic cultural experience to learn more about rural life, and you will most likely have dal bhat (Nepali cuisine) in the evening with the family in their kitchen. Included meals: Breakfast| Lunch| Dinner

We will trek from Siding to Lumle's roadhead, passing through the settlements of Kalimati and Ghalel on the route. Kalimati is mostly a Brahmin settlement, with mixed Brahmin and Gurung populations in Ghalel and Siding. At Lumle, you'll board a vehicle that will take you back to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara. Included meals: Breakfast| Lunch| Dinner

We take a flight or drive to Kathmandu. Later on, we will drop you off at the hotel after arrival in Kathmandu. You will take it easy for the rest of the day, catching up on some last-minute shopping or seeing any monuments we missed on our first day in Kathmandu. In the evening, we will enjoy a goodbye meal to commemorate the successful conclusion of our voyage. Overnight in Kathmandu. Included meals: Breakfast| Dinner
