Ultimate Himalayan Trekking Gear Checklist: What to Pack & Rent
From 4-season down sleeping bags to moisture-wicking merino layers and broken-in boots, here is everything you need for the high Himalayas.

Essential Layering for Nepal Treks
Temperatures in the Himalayas swing from +20°C in sunny lower valleys to -15°C at high camps at night. Layering is your armor against the mountain elements.
1. Base Layer (Next to Skin)
Avoid cotton at all costs. Bring 2 to 3 sets of mid-weight Merino wool or synthetic thermal tops and bottoms that wick perspiration away from your skin.
2. Insulating Mid-Layer
A warm grid-fleece jacket and lightweight down or PrimaLoft jacket to retain body heat during trail rest stops and lodge evenings.
3. Outer Shell (Weather Protection)
Gore-Tex windproof and waterproof hooded jacket and pants with taped seams. Himalayan weather can shift in minutes.
