Langtang Ganja-La Pass Trek
The mountains rise in this valley, towering toward the sky, earning the name "the valley of glaciers" for the Langtang valley. The valley's bio-diversity includes pine woods, rapid mountain streams, craggy boulders, snow-capped summits, grassy downs, and meadows covered in wildflowers and daisies. We pass through cultural landmarks along the road, such as Buddhist temples, a cheese factory, yaks, glaciers, and alpine lakes.
This trek provides the chance to see a typical Sherpa hamlet and visit several historic monasteries. This excursion will leave you with lifelong memories because of the natural diversity and cultural attractions. The tallest mountains in the area are Ganesh Himal (7240m) and Langtang Lirung. To prepare for our upcoming hike to Ganja La pass, we will also ascend to Kyanjingompa and take a side trip to Tshergo Ri (4984m). The Ganja La pass, which provides additional adventure and difficulties in the Himalayas, is our next stop before entering the valley of Helambu.
The Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek is one of the most popular and challenging hiking objectives. It is situated in the Langtang area, northwest of the Kathmandu Valley. Trekking through the snow-covered Langtang Ganja La Pass provides breathtaking mountain views, historical religious settlements, Langtang and Helambu valleys, and a chance to experience nature. You may experience pristine nature free from human intervention on the Langtang Ganja La Pass Trek, which transports you from the crowded trails of the Langtang region to the quiet trails of Helambu across the icy Ganja La Pass (5130m).
Program ( 16 Days )
Upon arrival, our airport representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu. The evening is free to explore the city.
After breakfast, our professional tour guide will accompany you on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. On this tour, you will visit most of the significant UNESCO Heritage Sites, including Swyambbhunath, Hanumandhoka Palace, Pashupatinath, and Bouddhanath, all of which are located less than 6km from one another.
We head north out of Kathmandu, driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi, passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of the Trishuli river, we catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces, and green hills.
The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is gradually ascending to Bamboo, passing through Landslide. Afterward, you trek to Rimche (2400m) from Bamboo (1960m), which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place
As you continue climbing, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung through the trees. The trail emerges from the forest at Ghora Tabela (3000m). Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail climbs gently, and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the Langtang village, the Langtang National Park headquarters. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, and barley fields.
The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures. After crossing several streams and moraines, the trail settles Kyangjin. Here there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. We should arrive at Kyangjin by lunchtime, allowing time to acclimate and explore the area.
Today we rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung, or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m), directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks.
Today we trek up a steep ascent to the top. On today's trek, you can see Himalayan peasants, deer, and outstanding views of surrounding peaks and mountains. From Tserko Ri, you will be captivated by the panoramic views of Sisapangma, Langshisa Ri, Naya Kang, Yala Peak, and Langtang Lirung.
Today we enter the wilderness and can no longer see any villages. The trail continues ascending, and the area is covered only with alpine vegetation. Since there is no available lodge, we camp from here on.
Before venturing over the pass, we take an extra day at a higher elevation to ensure that nothing goes wrong on the other side of the pass. The other side of Ganja La is inaccessible from any rescue facilities for at least two days.
Today is comparatively strenuous as we cross the Ganja La Pass. As we cross the path, we will find it covered with snow and ice most of the time of the year. We will camp again in the evening.
It will be a long day walking along the ridge, with grassland and amazing views of the surrounding mountains. There are numerous small passes to cross even after the central Ganja La, so the trek remains exciting and energetic. Our campsite will be inside the forest.
Today we cross over a 4100-meter pass. From the pass, the trail descends through pine forest, rhododendron forest, and past a small herder’s settlement to Tarkeghyang. You can visit one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries and Sherpa villages. The scenery is spectacular, with the green valley view and the snow-capped Himalayas on this trek portion.
We take a pleasant walk through the last part of the Langtang National Park, and pass by farmlands. Shermathang is another Sherpa village with a monastery we can visit.
After a long descent through the mixed cultural village of mid-hill people. we head to Melamchi Bazaar that has a road linked to Kathmandu. The town is large and situated along the riverbed of Indrawati.
Today we drive to Kathmandu which takes about 5 hours. At first the road runs along the Indrawati river and at Limidnda you join the Kathmandu-Lhasa road ,the friendship highway. Then, you pass by Dhulikhale, Banepa and Bhaktapur en route.
Our airport representative will transfer you to the airport.
